I need new stuff to read while awaiting Butchers Peace Talks. Finished Malazan Book of the Fallen, that is THE most underrated book series of all time I think. Read his and Ian Cameron Esselmonts work on the Malazan universe, blows away stuff like Got.

Currently re-reading The Dire Earth trilogy as a new duology for it came out. If you haven't read it yet give it a shot. Highly underrated. First book is called, The Darwin Elevator.

Not easy reading at all but certainly not lacking in character either.

I don't think I ever finished forever. Got like halfway through it if I remember correctly. Didn't he write it to counter the politics of Troopers?

That's the main thing that puts some people off of Malazan. These dudes have PHD's in Archeology and Anthropology and their writing is hella technical sometimes so some feel it is obsfucating and convoluted and they are absolute doorstoppers to the extreme. But very gratifying reads. So I will Definately give this one a shot

Not sure about writing it to counter the politics I just thought it was fascinating how the main character would travel back to earth and it would be 200 years later and all this crazy shit had happened.

I wouldn't be surprised about the political angle though because the 2nd book Forever Peace is about a small group of people brainwashing the world into being unable to be aggressive, and they are the heroes of the story.

Yeah I'm never one to let politics ruin a good story. But I just can't be preached to like that when faced with a giant author tract. Taints the story for me.

    Go on .....

Not sure if underrated but my favs not often talked about:

    First Law series- cool fantasy
The Gam3- two books in this scifi series, and it was legit great!!! Waiting for book 3. Its a VR world type game.
Awaken Online series- a litrpg series that starts a tad 'teenagerish' but gets better. The three books in the ain series are good. The 2 side stories ... meh.

Not fantasy or scifi, but I'll mention Super sale on Super Heroes, a really unique take on super heroes.

The best sf book I've read recently is "Children of Time" by Adrian Tchaikovsky, which is awesome.

"Use of Weapons" by Iain M Banks is possibly my favourite.

Also, another recommend for Book of the New Sun. Very strange and a dense read but definitely worth it.

Ahh. Book of the new sun sounds like an unreliable narrator read. Love those. Like House of Leaves. Just downloaded the bundle to kindle. Thanks for the recommend!
