Knock out who Penn? He couldnt knock out anybody hes fought but Aldo who leapt into his fist.
He is 1-1 and could very well be 0-2 with gate keeper Nate Diaz. Penns fought the bigger and better competition. Were talking about a prime Penn in this thread, not the old man Penn.

Is that prime Penn? Penn is a shell of his old self and needs to hang them up i feel.

I like Penn cause he always looked natural out there, just seemed to flow with the fight.
Plus he did it on beer and hot dogs.

Ehhh, splitting hairs. He asked Penn if he wanted to stop and Penn didn't say anything. He quit. I don't blame him and he'd still kick my ass despite my being twice as big as him, but he quit pure and simple.

Sherdog often has a very narrow minded view of fighters hears and toughness. Big fucking Nog has tapped, so you dont get to say that tapping means you dont have heart. Personally, I've always felt brains are just as important, and if they got you, they got you. It's stupid to risk further injury when theres no gain. Theres no shame in tapping.

BJ in love with his striking would have gotten his clock cleaned and given up.

The BJ with a plan that outwrestled Jon Fitch for two rounds probably would have submitted Conor.

And 27-28 year old Mcgregor caught a clean 1-2 from a not so powerful punching Nate Diaz, shat himself, panick wrestled, and then gave up. Penn would take his heart if they fought prime vs prime.

You guys rate Diaz a better striker than Penn ? I think he beats Conor on the feet. Conor hasnt done so well when he fights guys his size with a chin and decent hands.

Well this was Nick, who moves and fights almost identically to Nate:

They overwhelm guys with their output. Nate has done it to a number of his opponents - they can punch over and over and over. BJ was always crisp with it but also had a TD threat in his back pocket. He also was much more of a grappler and to this day remains better at it than striking. Couple that with the fact that Conor actually beat Nate in a primarily striking match I'd say yes.

Conor works best when he's got reach on his opponent. If you watch his TKO of Eddie he dodges a punch by what has to be millimeters before coming back with the KO shot. His knowledge of distance and range control is masterful.

Like I said, if BJ wants to get prideful (possible) and stand up with him I can see him getting knocked down. If he abandons that, he should easily tap McGregor.

Nick is a better boxer than Conor and Nate both but i respect your opinion. Ive been in here a little over board with it trying to change everybodies minds it seems like rather than respecting everyones viewpoint.
I just think Penn matches him well on the feet, has better grappling and more heart.
Both have gas tank issues but when Penn is getting his ass pounded by big brother Diaz he comes out ready for war in that 3rd round while Conor shot for a take down rather than taking his licking from lil brother Diaz

BJ Penn was on a downslide when he fought Nick Diaz. Nick Diaz is a much better fighter than Nate Diaz in my opinion. Nate was only hyped up because of beating Conor. BJ Penn stood in the pocket with Nick and even clocked him a few times. Nobody is seriously crazy enough to sit in the pocket of Nick Diaz to trade punches but BJ Penn did.

Conor wouldn't be able to put away prime Penn. Terrible match up for him.

I've said, typed, explained, elaborated upon and delved into this perspective many times...

Did Pettis quit or did Rufus stop the fight? Unless the fighter comes out and says no more, it's on the coaches, which is what Parillo did.

A prime Penn is a terrible match up for McGregor. Hes a very sound boxer, has an iron chin, world class grappling. He would stop him.

Not everyone situation is the same. If you saw the fight, you could see it. He got asked if he wanted to keep going and he just looked at his feet and said nothing. Penn quit. Theres no shame in it.
