Already beat him. He doesnt owe stipe anything
Some did, some didnt. Considering that his whole purpose is to make money, why would he not take those fights?
If conor mcgregor was offered 100 mil to fight drake in japan hed do it.
Just hope we can get his hands taped in a fist so we can keep his fingers out of the Champs eyes.
The overwhelming majority of the roster will spend years in a certain weight class with no belt. If that's coming up short, then MMA fighters are a bunch of losers, with a tiny minority of exceptions.
You'd have to be astronomically stupid on multiple levels to take Stipe/Blaydes over Lewis & Brock at this point. Beating Stipe again doesn't do anymore for his legacy than Lewis. DC v Brock will be remembered far longer than DC v Stipe II.
DC has constantly been active, fought a ton of guys with no issue, and simply wants to make sure he is taken care of in retirement after dedicating his life and body since he was a kid.
Shit, remember when he STILL wanted to fight Jon, even after knowing he popped?
If this fight is what makes you lose respect, you were just a fucking bitch anyways.
How do you do that without giving the appearance that it's to keep him from grappling?
The guy was LHW champ and HW champ. He deserves a couple of paydays.
The two best HWs at the moment
War BLACK BEAST!
It's not like dc has never taken the tuf fights before AND Lewis is highly ranked it's not like he's #10HW.
Stipe chose washed up JDS over giving Werdum a rematch. Everybody takes a weaker matchup now and then.
Maybe he could be but at present he isn't. He certainly doesn't have as many wins as Lewis does in the past five years.
He's supposed to fight Stipe on 3 weeks with a bum hand why? To impress you? Its not his fault UFC bumbled the MSG main event and offered him a shit ton of money to save the card. Didnt we learn from TJ/Cody that immediate rematches after KOs are a bad idea? Especially first round ones? Usually its because one fighter is vastly superior to the other. Stipe will get his shot in 2019. If he wants to be a badass let him fight Blaydes in an eliminator. Otherwise he can blow me. DC just got us a HW title fight instead of a womens flyweight title fight with Sijara fucking Eubanks, and allowed UFC to rebook Valentina vs. Joanna. You should be on your knees feeding him cake and chicken.
In addition to a short camp, Cormier is still dealing with a hand injury he suffered in his last fight back in July. Still, the 39-year-old said he couldn't decline the UFC's offer to headline New York -- and the paycheck attached to it.
"I didn't think I was going to fight on this card, but the deal I got was so good," Cormier said. "There was no way I could say no, honestly. Especially with a guy like Derrick, who is not known for the best cardio. I've got to start fast and hope I can push harder than him, even with a short camp."
Props for honesty
man its gonna look real bad if lewis catches him with something crazy.
PUBLIC RELATIONS 101:
Good for him. There was no main event. At least he got paid to take it.
I'll laugh so fucking hard if Derrick Lewis becomes HW champ. Rooting for DC and favor him heavily but the division would be a joke with that dude as champ.
I think that would crazy for Lewis to land something early. DC just basically said Derrick is an easy fight, so just for that I'm hoping to see an insane ass post fight interview by Lewis with the belt on, like "I always wanted to try fuckin with one of these shiny belts on" lol
Basically, he doesn't think this fight will jeopardise the lesnar fight.
Making lots of money and the fight isnt too hard. Honest DC.
